A suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection with a video showing a man allegedly trying to kidnap a drive-by bartender in Auburn, Washington.
Auburn police released surveillance footage taken just after 5 a.m. Monday that appears to show a man in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck grabbing an employee’s wrist and trying to use a pressurized device while the coffee maker was trying to return cash. The video showed the waiter breaking free as the man dropped the money and sped off.
Police noticed that the driver had a tattoo that appeared to read “Chevrolet”.
Police said a suspect was arrested after “overwhelming support from the community”.
CBS affiliate KIRO-TV She stated that the bartender was working alone at the time of the incident. The suspect’s name and the charges he faces were not immediately confirmed.
“They’re in a vulnerable position because they usually take control of those locations themselves in the early hours of the morning when it’s dark outside,” said Auburn Police spokesman Colby Crossley. “But this barista did a great job protecting herself and fighting this person.”
According to Crossley, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday at his home in Auburn, Kero TV reported. Crossley revealed that the police searched his car and found evidence linking him to the accident.
